How to Look Gorgeous This Summer: 10 Tips to Look Great and Healthy
Summer has arrived and it is time we take out our swimsuits, shorts, floral dresses and be ready to have a whole lot of fun hitting the beach, going swimming, and sipping on our favorite fruit juices. Though summer does gives us the chance to get involved in so many fun activities, the intense rays of the sun can be very harming to our skin. Do not worry, you can still enjoy, look gorgeous, and stay healthy, by just following the 10 simple tips given below.
1. Accessories smartly
Following these simple tips definitely will help make you look gorgeous throughout summer. Together with it, you will also be healthy and fit, and thus will be able to enjoy even the warmest days of the year without the slightest problem.
2. Keep your hair protected
Our hair goes through a lot during summer and so it needs extra attention. If you plan to go swimming regularly make sure to invest in an anti-chlorine shampoo and conditioner to neutralize the affect chlorine can cause to your hair. Try not to use hairdryers or other heating products as much as you can. When possible, cover your hair with your scarf so that you can protect it from the harmful rays of the sun.
3. Exfoliate
Summer months increase the dead skin cells and so you need to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis if you want to have a healthy and smooth skin. You need not necessarily buy the expensive skin exfoliators available in the market and can instead make one at home. You can combine a handful of oatmeal, a little yogurt, and milk and use it to exfoliate your skin.
4. Go swimming
In the winters you must have opted to go for jogs and runs as that would increase your body temperature and helped you lose weight. If all this seemed boring, be happy its summer. Now you can go swimming alone, or with friends, have a great time while also enjoying a good exercise. You may start by swimming for about 10 minutes and gradually increase the time. If you can swim for 30 minutes you can burn 400 calories.
5. Exercise regularly
Yes, it is summer, the temperature is so high and exercise will make you sweat more. This does not mean you will not exercise during the summer months at all. You may not go out for walks if it is too hot outside, instead, you can join an aerobics or yoga class, or a gym, so that you can work out indoors. But, working out regularly is a must.
6. Drink as many glasses of water as you can
Drinking 6-8 glasses of water is necessary throughout the year, but it becomes all the more important during the summer months. Since you sweat a lot during summer you lose more water and thus you need to drink more to avoid getting dehydrated. If you are not able to drink plain water much, then you may opt for coconut water, green tea, or simply add a few frozen cubes of fruits in your glass and make your water flavorful.
7. Drink lots of smoothies
Fruit smoothies taste great, are very healthy, can quench your thirst, and keep you hydrated. However, you must avoid smoothies that include ice creams as they are very high in calories and will do you no good. You should rather opt for smoothies that are made of fruits, ice, and low-fat yogurt. You can use any fruit you like or more than one, throw them in your blender, and enjoy them cold and fresh.
8. Eat right
You should always watch what you eat but this becomes all the more important during summer. If you eat even a bit more than what your stomach allows you can easily get bloated. Try to eat as light as you can and gorge on fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly those that are rich in water. Stay away from fried and rich food and sweets as they are not only harmful to your health but can also easily cause skin problems during summer.
9. Do not forget your lips
You have used the best sunscreen to all exposed parts of your body and you think you are completely safe, well, think again. One part most people neglect taking care of is their lips. The sun can harm your lips as well and so they need protection too. Lip balms and lipsticks with SPF are available so make sure you use them.
10. Always use a sunscreen
This is something everyone knows but many people neglect. You must use a sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30 before stepping out of your home. If you have a sensitive skin then a mineral-based sunscreen would be best for you. Avoid staying out in the sun anywhere between 10 am to 4 pm when the sun rays are strongest and most harmful. If, however, you will have to be out during this time make sure to reapply your sunscreen once in every 2-3 hours.
